I was talking to my sister today in the car on the way home from work about songs with "work" in the title. (Don't ask me why dude, we just talk about whatever.) We brainstormed a bajillion songs, but for the life of me I could not remember the name of that one song I absolutely loved in the early 00s. Then, I got home and found it with the help of a few ridiculous Google searches. This song brings me joy. It gives me hope. And, it inspires me to keep going with its dance-y sensibility. I may not know exactly what I want to do with myself at this point in my life, but dammit I'm going to have a good-ass time living, moving and working to love each moment.
Ooooh girl, it's such a good time for television. I just wanted to take a moment to list all of my favorite shows at the moment.
• American Horror Story
• Broad City
• Inside Amy Schumer
• America's Next Top Model
• Walking Dead
• Fear The Walking Dead
• South Park
• Total Divas
So, basically zombies plus horror, a little WWE, but mostly sh*t that makes me lol. I like to laugh. And, that's all I have to say about that. *Forrest Gump voice*
Here's a nice tall glass of rejection,
I hope you learned a lesson.
You're never done until you're dead.
It's useless to dread all the small things,
Grab your needle and thread.
This square of fabric is turning into a quilt,
something that you built on your own,
a place in your mind to call home.
Take a look! I participated in a YouTube Social Experiment on Davey Wavey's channel. Good times were had.
You know that feeling when you're so full of hope?
And then it stops,
And then it comes again and you pretend to think a certain way.
Conflicted, restricted to trying to be everyone's cup of tea
Wearing out your knees because kneeling doesn't suit you.
You want to eat your cake, after all you baked it.
I don't think it's entitlement,
Your heart purrs to slow down just a little,
Just enough so you don't swirl into a negative drawer,
Enough so life isn't a bore,
Enough so you can live comfortably,
Enough so you don't have to over question every move you make.
The word "mistake" is used too often.
Unfortunately, this is the way things are.
Get ready for your scars.
You are here, now is fleeting
Complete this level because you don't have a choice
Maybe someday everyone will hear your voice.
Heavy eye makeup.
Wrist junk (bracelets).
Garlic, for its immune system building qualities.
Creepers. The shoes, not the guys. Gag.
The good kind of weird.
These movies: Mean Girls, Clueless, Heathers, Beetlejuice, Factory Girl, Wayne's World.
Unnecessary Periods. The punctuation, not the time of the month. ew.
Good red wine.
Raw, non-pervy thoughts.
Witty, kitschy novelties.
Leopard print. Rar.
Black is my favorite color.
Chipotle, pizza, mashed potatoes, popcorn, and champagne.
Wearing contacts over glasses.
That Christmas pine scent.
Not washing my hair.
Having a clean kitchen.
Little kid books with powerful messages (Dr. Suess sheht, The Giving Tree, Coraline... along those lines)
Tattoos... on other people.
Miley Cyrus when she's not being a complete dingleberry.
Painted nails, not the act of painting them, but having them.
To the girl afraid to speak her mind,
I hear you, I hear you hard.
All too often we're told to shove what we think into a nook in our brains,
to hide how we feel to the people who can't control their own feelings.
A double-sided grate of hypocrisy.
When did being the bigger person become not speaking up?
I don't hold grudges, but my thoughts have budged so hard they're seeping out the other side.
They've stopped drowning in trying to please,
They've twined up me knees to my brows and have found a place that's a little timid, but full of humanity.
Full of profanity and hopefully a little bit of insight,
Enough to offend the weak who think the entire internet is all about them.
To the pretentious I say, "Shut the f*ck up."
It's my turn.
